Is running around causing mayhem and violence for you? Do you too wish to be a part of a gang that is taking over the streets? If so, then you should be a criminal in APB. Do you want to stop crime and keep peace on the streets? Do you want to shut down the local gangs and arrest the local king pin? If so, then you should be an enforcer in APB. Either way you play it, either way you enjoy it, if your into the whole Grand Theft Auto style of game play then APB is for you. Now, with that said you are in luck because NK – Northern Kings, has an all new APB – All Points Bulletin Division up and running. Recruitment is high and interest is solid, especially since our APB Division is playing regularly. Today is the official opening of the APB game to all gaming markets, now is the time to show your skills, good or bad! So if your interested in joining NK and rolling with the best Enforcers and Criminals around, then this should be your new home! To give you some more information about the game and what NK is doing with it, I talked to Cataclysm about what APB is and how it works. Here is what he told me: NK has a new division called APB. APB is a 3rd person shooter MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) but its not like your typical MMO where you do quests all the time to get to end game. APB is a style where you do some quests to get you threat level up then you get an APB (All Points Bulletin) put out on you. Once this happens other real players come after you and try to stop you. It is fast and quick and loads of fun in groups. Laughing, Killing, Dying. You can steal cars, break windows on stores, and steal items for rep. There are 2 factions Criminals and Enforcers. So good and bad guys. Marax, our NK president/king/king pin (depending on what game you play) had first found APB when it was in the middle of beta test. Next, when it came to a 4 day beta trial Sarge, Karn, Rumor, and I were playing it like crazy. After trying the four day trial we decided to make it an NK Division. So Marax set out some ground rules and we started off with Sarg, Karn, Rumor, Geo, andI as the 5 officers. We started recruting on Beta server forums and making a name for our selfs on the first day of beta. On the 19th of June we came in 3rd place with only having 4-6 members, from NK, playing. Then on the second day of beta we came in 2nd place. We dont know how.. we where just playing having fun, laughing and joking all the way. We then started getting some recruits. By the 3rd - 4th day of beta we had about 3-4 new recuits. After beta we kinda hit a snag with 1 of our officers leaving for another clan and the others not feeling this game is right for them. So after losing 2 officers that helped us get our first 3-4 recruits Sarge and I started to take charge with recruiting and interviewing new members daily. First we recruited a new officer, Byasaz, my younger brother and taking the guild in a new direction of having 2 leaders Sarge and I. We now have in total about 18 new members added to the APB division and lots of new members looking to keep playing with NK. When we interview the new members there big response is they like NK due to our CoC (Code of Conduct), how long the guild has been around, and that NK is not afraid to try new games and gain new members to there ranks. We are all waiting for the games Pre - launch on June 26th. Reading forums.. Playing other games until that day comes around. We hope the APB Division brings pride to NK as we continue to grow our numbers. So there you have it, NK APB is fun and exciting. The division is growing and has endless possiblities with the opening release today. So come make NK APB your home and be a part of a multi gaming community that doesn't hold anything back when it comes to having fun. While your here please sign up and register on the forums so you can communicate out of game with fellow members. If you have another other questions feel free to get a hold of Sargenius or Cataclysm in game or on the forums. |

I interviewed Melea from NK Darfall Division a few weeks ago. I finally was able to get around and get the article to you all now. Sorry for the delay and here it is for your viewing pleasure ;0)
Who started the DF (Darkfall) division and are they still around?
Ford brought DF to NK's attention, Kelane actually started the DF branch of NK. He is on break atm, myself and Gohron/Mepoe are co-leading at this time.
How many people play DF right now?
NK usually fields a full group of ten on most nights. Total actives are around 15-18 players I would have to say right now.
What is Darkfall and how is it different from other games?
Darkfall is a full loot MMO. The learning curve is massive, with your character growing and changing every time you log in. All races are fairly equal, there is no one over powered class to play. Your toon is only as good as you make it and there seems to be no true end to improving your character. Unlike other games, where you can grind hardcore for a few days/weeks and have a maxed out toon, Darkfall is a much slower grind. This is more of a game for long term players. You will not be able to make a character, and in two weeks be dominating, it just won't happen! Once you have a fairly well-developed toon, there is always something else you can improve upon. Be it melee, magic, crafting, or just building your bank up. DF is also not a very friendly game for solo players. It can be done, but it is much harder that way. Darkfall has a player driven economy, so if you want good equipment, you either need to make it yourself, have a friend make it, or buy it from another player. What type of game is it, FPS, MMO, RTS, RPG, or Combination?
Darkfall is an MMO
Are you still recruiting?
We are still recruiting.
What are your recruiting requirements?
We are looking for people who are in it for the long haul. There are no character requirements, but anyone who wants to be in NK needs to be willing to follow not only NK rules, but also our alliance rules. We also need everyone willing to be in mumble, which is the voice system the alliance uses.
What is new to your game and or division?
We just recently have joined up with a few other small clans, and are living in a player city. We tend to get PvP action on a nightly basis and there are some very good PvE spots around as well. Darkfall 2010 is still in the works. I believe it is to be pushed through this summer. Right now a lot of people are looking forward to the new character designs, AV is revamping the looks of all the races. We also have a lot of interest in the new mount coming out.
How often do you all play?
We have people on most of the day. Of course our prime time is from 6pm-12am central, most nights. But anytime I log on there is someone from NK on.
What is your favorite part of the DF game?
The challenge of it. I tend to get bored very quickly, and DF does not let that happen. I have been playing since Nov., and my toon is no where near as high as I want her to be. Not to mention the people, we have a great group of people right now (not only in NK, but also in our alliance). We all mesh very well, and tend to spend a lot of time laughing even as we kill or get killed.
What keeps you there instead of playing WoW or another type of game?
I have played FPS's and they get very boring after a while. You can only run around shooting people for so long before you know all the good spots to go. My first MMO was Pirates of the Burning Sea, which was a lot of fun until the population imploded. No people makes for a very boring MMO. I also played Warhammer which is where I met up with NK, again that game was a lot of fun, but the population issues and the lack of PvP drove me away. All in all I pick Darkfall because it is a full loot open PvP system. There is something alluring about playing a game where you are never 100% safe. At any point you can be killed and lose whatever you happen to have on your body. I also love the detailed graphics that Darkfall has. It is not only a fun game to play, but it is just enjoyable to see the game being played by others.
I would like to thank Melea for taking the time to answer my questions and share some insight on Darkfall. Keep in mind if you know someone that would like to play Darkfall, NK is currently recruiting for that division. If you have an other questions about NK as a community or Darkfall, please check our forums.

NK has been around in many forms over the years. We have been a part of the Battlefield gaming series for FPS style play, a part of WoW on Laughing Skull, a part of Warhammer Online, and even a part of Aion to bring respect to the Asmodians. The times they are a changin' though cause the itch is back...no it's not just my crabs! That means in less than 3 weeks those 6 players nearly increased this NK WoW Division 20 fold. Most of those players are old WoW Players, or gamers from other NK Gaming Divisions. That to me is very impressive. To be able to affect others so much that they dropped the current game they were playing and interested in, to come and hang with their old friends and have more fun. NK has returned to WoW once again, but this time we have taken on the role of the Alliance on the Hellscream server. It was an interesting change indeed, considering a lot of old school players were Horde dedicated. However, the pull to be a part of NK has proven to be even greater. It all started with a few key players of NK that made the first step on their own. Such a step that even the King himself has bestowed honor and recognition by saying... “I want to take a moment again to thank Obeon, Varlor, Valhart, Reign, Lazerus and Rumor who were all instrumental in this division growing to its current numbers. It has been nice to see some old faces return to NK from our old WoW days on Laughing Skull, as well as adding a few new members to the NK Community.” So to those that made their move and affecting a momentous change, we all at NK – Thank You – for doing so. It has been a great change for NK and stirred up the tight knit friendships we were used to in all our other games. For those of you that can not read our forums, here is a glimpse at what occurred in the last two and half weeks for NK WoW Division:
Two and a half weeks ago there were 6 WoW players. One and a half weeks ago there were around 25-35 regular players. One week ago there were around 45-60 regular players. Currently there are over 45 lvl 80 players and 80 players between 10-79 catching up. This rebirth even resurrected the dead! Players that were never coming back to WoW have returned to the land of the living including myself, Treeboom, from just under a one year lapse. Malleki just returned to us from over a 2 year lapse. Even Mnemon who posted in the forums... not ... going ... to ... do ... it. must ... resist ... reactivation ... virus … has come back and is playing his toon regularly. Before we wrap this welcome back article up, I want to take a moment to give a shout out to those from LS (Laughing Skull) that have returned to us: Monzz Delycious Treeboom (yup that's me) Bubba ..Pump, Dump, Stump, Hump, Hotep, etc Marax: Yes even the kings roots started here! And to anyone else from LS that I may have left out I apologize! We do thank you for the commitment especially with that $55.00 charge to do so for each toon you moved over. P.S. Articles are going to be a new feature on the NK Website in the future. If anyone else would like to join me in writing for the guild please let me or Marax know. If you are not a writer, but have a topic or idea that would make for a good article please pass it on and we will try to work it into a future article. |

NK Re-Launches WoW Division |

We have recently re-opened our World of Warcraft Division and are planning to build our numbers and move into a place where we will be able to aggressively Raid Endgame Content for Cataclysm's release. NK had been a successful WoW Vanilla and BC raiding guild that decided to take a break from WoW after raiding in BC. During our vacation we were extremely successful in Warhammer and Aion as a PvP raiding guild. While in Aion, many members of NK began to gradually move back to WoW for the endgame content which still holds up against a sea of other MMORPG's. Roughly 2 weeks ago we put out the call to all of our NK members to see who would be interested in returning to NK WoW and we were amazed at the numbers that came back. In 2 weeks we have brought back over 60 NK members as well as adding some new members to the NK Community. As many of our characters were still 70, we spent the first 2 weeks with people leveling and raiding again. For just being back for 2 weeks, as a guild, we have already downed 19 raid bosses in just a few days. It has really been a blast so far and our goal in returning was to gear up and raid as a group as much as possible before the release of Cataclysm. NK plans to be among the leading Raiding Guilds on Hellscream once Cataclysm is released. For those of you who may be visiting our site for the first time, you should know a few things about us: The Northern Kings is a premiere multi-gaming community involved in both Massive Multiplayer Online Role-playing Games and First Person Shooters. NK has an 11 year history of success in numerous titles including World of Warcraft, Warhammer Online, Age of Conan, Darkfall, Modern Warfare, and all of the Battlefield series of games.
The reasons for NK’s continued success has been the loyalty and quality of our members. Most guilds come and go, but for us, to have an 11+ year history speaks to the willingness of our leadership and members to support one another in and out of the games we play. The Northern Kings is a community of friends that participate in online gaming and not just some other guild of randomly thrown together players. |
